Frequently asked questions
Tresorit is Swiss, isn't that already very secure?
Tresorit is indeed reputable. However, since the 2021 Swiss Post acquisition, the company is partly controlled by a foreign public entity and hosts servers in Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. For a Québec SMB, data crosses multiple jurisdictions. SecuFile keeps it simple: single Canadian jurisdiction, direct Loi 25 compliance.
Is zero-knowledge encryption identical?
The principle is the same: the encryption key never leaves the client. SecuFile uses AES-256-GCM and an envelope-sharing mechanism (KEM) that allows sharing a file without revealing the master key. Tresorit uses a similar proven approach. The difference is mostly jurisdiction and compliance.
Can we share with non-SecuFile external users?
Yes, via encrypted links with password and expiry. The external recipient downloads from a browser with no install required.
What are the SLA and RPO/RTO commitments?
SLA 99.9%, RPO 24h, RTO 4h, daily off-site encrypted backups (always in Canada). Details in our ToS.
